The awareness of toxins and exposures is on the rise. We also know that chronic illnesses can occur from an impaired ability to detoxify.  But just how many toxins can a person handle?  It’s a highly individualized situation depending on genetic disposition, amount of exposures and other added stressors (such as work, relationships, food sensitivities, infections, digestive issues and so on).

I came across this article written by an author at the Global Healing Center on the amount of toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis.  This is a generalized article but gives great insight into the extent of exposures and just what the body can handle.

The author notes that in a 24 hour period an optimally detoxifying individual can tolerate and process 1 million toxins.   Yet here’s a quick snip of what that individual would be exposed to:  air toxins 150,000; water toxins 200,000; food toxins 325,000; beverage toxins 160,000; prescription drugs 180,000; microbes toxins 525,000; emotional and physical stress 200,000, heavy metal toxins 130,000; radiation exposure (cell phones, EMFs) 230,000.  The total of these exposures is 2,100,000 every 24 hours.  That’s 200% of what an individual can manage that has a healthy detoxification system.

The energy, alone, required to detoxify these toxins is excessive and can be severely damaging.  Please consider the exposures that you endure on a daily basis and assess what you can do to reduce your and your child’s exposures.  The full article can be read here.

Be well,
