Aside from conventional pharmaceutical treatments for those children identified with behaving on the autism spectrum and experiencing seizures, there are non-conventional nutritional and diet considerations.  This paper discusses in length the importance of pursuing more study on the effectiveness of Omega 3 fatty acids toward the use of reducing inflammation and supporting cardiovascular health; magnesium as a relaxant; the ketogenic diet and modified atkins diet; the promising results from neurofeedback; the importance of identifying disruptions in folate (B9) metabolism, cobalamin deficiencies (B12), zinc supplementation potentially for children tested with low zinc levels (heavy metals including copper levels must also be explored), taurine as a supportive amino acid.  The nutritional methods discussed are much less invasive and reinforce that nutritional deficiencies and diet must be explored further.
